I will be collecting entries for the 2016 anytime between now and the 5th Dec - after that, you've had your chips for 2016. I'm happy to take cash "on account", but the full amount must be paid by the deadline.

Some info below.

What is the I.M? - The I.M (Individual membership) is the SPA?s flagship ranking tour of events. Affiliated leagues from across Scotland are invited to enter players at the end of the year for participation in the following year?s events. Current levels of entry are around 1100 from leagues around Scotland. There are 6 events, spread throughout the year.

How does it work? - Once all the names are collected, the number of places at the 256 player finals weekend each league gets is calculated (known as the pro-rata) obviously the higher number of entries a league has, the more entries they will be allocated at the finals. Players ranked 1-64 in the previous years ranking list do not need to qualify and are seeded directly into the finals (this does not affect the qualifying places an area gets) As a guide there will be approximately 1 place at the finals weekend for every 4 entries. Event number 6 is only for players who have not won any prize money during the previous 5 events.

What happens next? - The SPA carry out area draws which are sent to leagues. It is then up to each league to ensure the qualifying names are returned to the SPA before the strict deadline. The Aberdeen league will set deadlines for each round of the qualifying to be completed and specify where the ties are to be played, allowing the players to arrange times mutually agreeable to complete each round. Once the qualifying is complete and names are received by the SPA, the draw for the finals weekend takes place and is usually available around a week before the event. All local qualifying rounds will be best of 11.

Ok, I've qualified, what happens at the finals weekend? - You need to be at the venue, in the correct dress code (trousers, shirt or polo and shoes) for the time shown on the draw. There may be one or two ties on the Saturday depending on your draw, with the event played to completion on the Sunday. The venues selected are the best available throughout Scotland and traveling will be required in most cases. If a suitable internet connection is available at the venue, selected matches are streamed live on the internet.

Is there any money to be won? - Each event carries a prize fund of around 4000, with the winner taking home 900 and paid all the way down to the last 64.

Sounds good, how much does all this cost? - You pay your entry fee of 30 by the deadline date. This covers your entry into all 6 events (so only 5 per event!)

Ach, I'll see how it goes and enter later.... - NO! If your name and entry fee is not in by the cut-off then you have missed out for the entire year. Absolutely no second chances to enter.

Ok, I'm sold, how do I enter? - The SPA requires the following information. Full name, full postal address, postcode, email if available, and contact telephone number. please phone George on 07877712789, or email poolresults@gmail.com to make arrangements.

When do you need this? - The absolute deadline for entries/30 to be submitted is Saturday 5th Dec 2015. Entries CANNOT be accepted after this date. Please get them in as early as you can though.
