Key date to remember for captains is the 8th OCTOBER. This is when both the team Signing Form must be filled out and returned ideally by email to Allan Irvine at leagueresults@gmail.com or handed in to Rileys. Also the Competition Entry Form must be completed and returned to Colin Farquhar at the White Horse Bar along with ALL player monies due for entries. It is the captain's responsibility to hand these in on time and with full monies. Monies will not be accepted by other Committee members from individual players and no entries will be accepted after the 8th October.

We would like to encourage all players new and experienced to enter as many events as possible as competition is where players get the chance to improve their game by gathering more experience. The ADPL offers a wide range of events to play in. This year as part of the new look Competition Entry Form we have included a summary of all our events in case you are new to the league.

We are particularly keen to encourage players to take part in the Individual Membership (I.M.) series of events. Your 30 entry will get you entry into 6 qualifying events playing against other players from the ADPL and the chance should you qualify to play against the best players in Scotland at top class venues around the country for big prize money. Also the more players that enter the event the more qualifiers we will get for the finals of each event and the more pool you get for your 5.

We are aware that with these new events, all our regular competitions and that we now require XSP Singles money in one up front payment this can all add up. When you add up the amount of pool you get for your money, however, we would argue this is great value for money. For example with XSP lets say you play 15 matches first to 7 that is potentially 195 frames of pool for 55 (inc 15 to single pound payments to Rileys) played against good opposition and we usually work on the basis that if you finish half way up the league you get your entry money back roughly in prize money! Indeed the ADPL probably pays out more than most other pool leagues in the UK with on average over 10,000 being paid out every year at the Presentation Night!

We would encourage players to enter as many events as they can so that they can get the most from participating in the ADPL.

Yeah, you can leave them with Colin at White Horse whilst handing in comp entry sheets.

I have now went through all the paperwork thats been sent in to me so far, Chris is doing a final text around teams who we have not received any entries for to maximise the entrants for this season, so late entries will only be accepted until 2pm on Sunday by contacting myself (Allan) or Chris via text or e-mail.

The entries as they stand at the moment though are as follows:

XSP Singles Leagues - 32 Entries - So will be 3 divisions of either 12 - 10 - 10 or 11 - 11 - 10. Will see what works best with calendar. (Online Sunday)

Aberdeen Singles - 109 Entries (Online Sunday)
Division 3 Singles - 51 Entries (Online Sunday)
Division 2 Singles - 46 Entries (Online Sunday)
Division 1 Singles - 49 Entries (Online Sunday)
Aberdeen Masters - 44 Entries (TBC When will be drawn)
Seniors Entrants - 22 Entries (Entry accepted until day of event)
Aberdeen Ladies - 4 Entries (Entry Accepted Until Day of Event)
Aberdeen Doubles - 41 Entries (Online Sunday)
Scotch Doubles - 27 Entries (Entry Accepted Until Day of Event)
Aberdeen Pairs - 25 Entries (Entry Accepted Until Day Of Event)
Aberdeen 3 Man Team - 20 Entries (Entry Accepted Until Day of Event)

With respect to yourself Allan and to Chris, you guys give up your time to do this and it is appreciated...however what's the point in setting a deadline date unless you stick to it, it's unfair on you guys for having to chase folk and it's unfair on the teams who organise properly - they were quick enough to sign up for the league at the end of the day. By letting folk off the same thing will continue to happen.

We would also like to maximise entries and noticed that some teams had not submitted any. This may be because they dont intend to but equally as is the case with one they have a new captain who was not completely up with the requirements. Given that all the comps apart from XSP Championship leagues do not need to have draws done now (as they dont start for months) there is no reason why we cant have a few days extra to get in some more names. At the end of the day means a better event and more prize money. But yes in ideal world everyone would do things by the given date! We have also decided that where an event has less than 32 entries such as Scotch doubles we will do the draw on the day again so as to maximise entries, prize money and benfit to the league sponsor of having a full venue.
