Gents,

We need to start thinking about the 2014 invasion of the sheep worriers campaign.

The main event will be held at Craig Tara over the weekend of the 14th-16th March

We have a guaranteed position in bottom division for our A team.

The B team on the other hand will almost certainly have to qualify to gain entry to join the A team at the same event.

IF the B team qualify, and IF they have a reasonable showing at the main event, it should hopefully be the last time we would have to go through the qualifying process for our B team.

A date has been set aside for the qualifying, Sunday the 9th Feb. The format will likely be groups. Venue unknown, but you will almost certainly be traveling.

What I would like is if the last winning team from 2011 could reunite and carry on their unbeaten streak.

So, if you were involved in the B team campaign in 2011 (either the 11s or 15s) and would be available to play in BOTH dates mentioned above, then please post below.

BTW. The reason I need to get a B team in order first is purely down to the qualifying element. This will maybe put players off,and I need to be absolutely sure there is interest for 2 teams before committing the ADPL to 2 teams. These need to be entered at the Dec meeting.

The A team will be selected using the method voted on by the survey. ie 2 year rankings + captains wildcards.

Me too.

Whats the format of the weekend and how many get promotion? Could be an interesting Aberdeen A vs B battle on the cards - sounds like fun!

24 teams in each division. 4 are promoted for the following years event and 4 are relegated. If you are relegated from bottom division you have to qualify for the following years events.

It ensures meaningful matches for all until Sunday pm.

So 2 divisions then played over same weekend at Craig Tara? Prize money for top 4? Is the venue set as heard a few negative comments about it from those that went last time? Any chance for Rileys Aberdeen for the Qualifier then I reckon the perfect venue... :)

Top 4 in prize money, venue is set. The 2 bottom divisions are at CT in 2014, but play in different sessions.

I can only give you my opinion, but I think CT is a fantastic pool venue; 16 tables on 3 levels in one hall. The caravan I was in was brand new out of the wrapper, with warm air central heating.

SO 2 bottom divisions of 24 in each feeding into a top division of X teams? Would the 2 aberdeen teams if B team qualify be kept apart or just random draw? I think ADPL will also be subsidisng both teams participation in 11s and 15s to some degree so should be a great value weekend away for our players.

The divisions are Premier, First and second.

Second feeds first, first feeds Premier. Same as football.

It will be 2016 before any Aberdeen team joins the elite.

I am happy to captain again for the 11s B team only if the same players who did so well the last time winning both B team events commit to playing as I really enjoyed being part of the 2 teams last time. I am sure the A team will still be able to pick a tremendous side for the event similar to the one they had out last time.

Places will be offered to the winning 11s team from last time initially and if any cant make it or pull out will then select players who attended (won!) and performed well at the 15s B event. Based on the fact everyone had a great time last time and did well Id say it is unlikely I will get the chance to ask anyone outside this list. I presume if we fill 2 teams we cant take a 3rd George?

We could certainly enter a third, but they too would be involved in the one day qualifying.

There is more than enough good players in the ADPL to fill 3 teams.

With Ellon, Peterhead, Fraserburgh and Kirkcaldy all SPA members next year, there could potentially be a lot of familiar faces down there if all decide to enter teams.

I think Ellon will have a super 11 team, but am unsure if we will get the numbers for a Super 15 team.

If I was to play for Ellon in the 11s, could I play for Aberdeen in the 15s?

The layout of craig tara for viewing is a bit poor. If your on the top 2 levels its not so bad but playing at the bottom level next to the stage is a nightmare as there are 4 matches going on which is 8 teams with minimum 15 guys per team watching. Gets a bit crowded as your standing in the walk ways

Unfortunately no. Once you play in you first SPA event of the year, be it the I'M, or the Supers, or anything else - that ties you to that area for the rest of the year.
