Archives: Help contribute to the Anthony Nolan Trust
Posted on Wednesday, August 03 2005 @ 00:01:21 BSTby adpladmin
9-Ball Pool News On the weekend of 23rd-25th September The Golden Break will be holding a 4-person 9-Ball team event in aid of the ANTHONY NOLAN TRUST, a registered charity that helps save lives from leukaemia.

Teams will play on either the Friday night or the Saturday afternoon, with the top teams from each qualifier playing on the Sunday against a selection of top teams from regions of the UK and hopefully one or two teams from abroad (please read below for further details of the event).

I would hope that all regular ? and even non-regular ? pool players would endeavour to put together a team, or at least participate by playing in someone else?s team...

This may be alongside other regular pool players, but if you were able to bring anyone new into the team, this would of course be beneficial. I?m sure we all know people who have maybe only played occasionally in the past who would be interested in playing for the sake of a good cause.

Indeed, if you play for an 8-ball pool team, or a snooker team, why not see if you could get them to enter a team? The ADPL have very kindly agreed not to schedule any 8-ball events that weekend.

I will shortly officially be contacting local business and organisations asking for them to put in teams. Indeed I have already had eight such teams who have entered already just based on word of mouth! The Anthony Nolan Trust is the 2005 ?Press & Journal Charity Of The Year? and the event will also be promoted on Northsound, so I am hopeful of a good response.

As the event will be played on just four tables, and the Golden Break itself is relatively small, there will be a limit of 16 teams playing in each qualifier. Therefore I am offering team places to the regular players before these places are taken up by teams outwith the regular pool-playing community. You don?t have to come up with all four players? names immediately, but if you?re prepared to organise a team between now and September that?s good enough for me - just let me know and I'll make sure there is a place reserved for you.

At this stage you also have the choice of requesting either the Friday night or the Saturday afternoon qualifier, but once the event is promoted to the wider public that choice may soon not be available.

I?d therefore be most grateful if you would do the following:

?    Please let me know at your earliest opportunity if you are able to enter a team so you don?t miss out on what will hopefully be a great event.

?    Please forward this to anyone you think may be interested in entering a team into the event.

?    Please print off an A4 poster (or more) detailing the event by contacting me for one and displaying it/them wherever you think they may attract attention.

Many thanks for your support.
