Black Dog

Black Dog have won the Division 3 league title for the season, clinching it with a 8-6 victory over early season pacesetters Fountain Lipsquad in the 2nd last game of the season. Black Dog got off to a terrible start to the season losing 2 of their first 3 games and 3 of their first 6 games and looked anything like potential league winners, with the Fountain getting off to a flyer winning their first 6 games.

However after defeat at home to the Neptune in October the Black Dog went on a run of 9 straight victories, scoring significant wins away to the Fountain (9-5) and at home to Rileys Rumblers (8-6) in January. A second defeat away to the Neptune looked to handed the initiative in the race for the title to Rileys Rumblers.

Moving into April it looked like the league was going to go down to the last game of the season where the Black Dog were due to face Rileys Rumblers, however slip ups from Rumblers against Saltoun and Grampain in successive weeks gave the Black Dog the chance to win the league at their home venue against the Fountain which they duly took in a tight match 8-6 with captain Martin Campbell sinking the winning black.

Great performance all year from George Morrison, Lindsay Ahern and Jeff Turner especially in the big matches when scores were tight, along, with a turn in form for Russell Stuart after the xmas break, backed up with impressive win stats from Euan Ross playing his first year in the pool league helped push the Black Dog to the league title.
